Quality and transparency in the production of cured meats are core values for the Colli del Garda company. To guarantee these values and create a bond of trust with its customers, the company decided to be supported by Var Group in the project of adopting Trusty and integrating IBM Food Trust, to trace the entire production chain and provide detailed and transparent information on each individual product.

The Colli del Garda company is a family business that has always been committed to the production of high quality cured meats, respecting local traditions and processing techniques. The selection of animal breeds, attention to environmental sustainability and care for all aspects of the production chain are fundamental elements that contribute to the company's success and the satisfaction of its customers. Through the project, the company has raised the bar in the industry by offering information throughout the production process.

The Project: Goals and Challenges

The main objective of the project to use the platform was to create a comprehensive and transparent traceability system that could guarantee consumers a quality and sustainable product. Through the use of blockchain it was intended to increase the export potential of products, which is why IBM Food Trust was included in addition to Trusty. The innovations introduced by the project also intended to communicate all the sustainable activities put in place by the company as well as to meet the regulations on traceability and retraceability (178/2002) and environmental label regulations.

Challenges

Despite its great passion and commitment to the production of its cured meats, Colli del Garda faced a challenge related to visibility and consumer trust. The company wanted to be able to concretely demonstrate its commitment to quality assurance and transparency, and at the same time strengthen the bond with its customers.

Trusty: Traceability and Communication with IBM Food Trusty

Through collaboration with Var Group, Colli del Garda has integrated blockchain technology with Trusty and IBM Food Trust into the company's management. The Trusty platform makes it possible to monitor the entire production process of the company's products, thus ensuring maximum transparency and traceability.

A virtuous process for Export

The project thanks to the technology deployed (Trusty & IBM Food Trust) and thanks to the support of Var Group was a boost for the internationalization of Colli del Garda and the beginning of a process of exporting products to new countries (Germany and the United States).
