We are in Abruzzo in the early 80s when Nunzio Marcelli and Manuela Cozzi decide not to follow the flow that has seen many of their peers abandon the villages in favor of the cities, state jobs or factories.
They decided to go against the trend by starting to work on an economy, that of sheep farming, which in previous years had marked a great decline and lived on preconceptions about the figure of the shepherd.
In the years that followed, the A.S.C.A. Cooperative distinguished itself nationally for the quality of its products and for having become the spokesperson for an entire sector, exceeding all expectations, close to 2000 when, with the invention of the "Adopt a sheep" project, they gained the attention of the international media.
Further confirmation of the quality of their products comes with the first prize at the Saint Vincent Cheese Olympics.
Today, Cooperativa A.S.C.A. is a solid reality that has the production of almost 50 products including cheeses, sausages and meats, the organic farmhouse Porta dei Parchi and several apartments for hospitality in the town of Anversa degli Abruzzi and an educational farm with about 2000 animals.
Today, Nunzio and Manuela are supported by their children Jacopo and Viola, who have taken up the baton and are bringing innovations, both in the production of new products and in hospitality.
TrackIT Blockchain - the ICE Agency's project to protect Made in Italy.
The A.S.C.A. Cooperative took part in the "TrackIT Blockchain" project promoted by the ICE Agency to support Italian small and medium-sized enterprises in the adoption of blockchain technology to trace, in complete security and transparency, their supply chain of Made in Italy products on international markets.
With the use of the Trusty platform, the A.S.C.A. Cooperative chooses to take a further step towards its customers by making available, in a transparent manner, the data relating to the milk and meat supply chain.
A single scan on the qr-codes on the packages will be enough to trace any information relating to the supply chain.
Given the presence of the Cooperative's products on international markets, the use of Trusty is a novelty that strengthens the positioning both in terms of digital innovation and for competitiveness among Made in Italy products.
Trusty also becomes a useful tool to give greater strength to the Adopt a Sheep project.
