Raw material crisis: Trusty to the aid of Italian farmers.

The war between Russia and Ukraine is beginning to show the first strong signs of repercussions for some Italian food brands. Over the last few days, the web has been abuzz with news of difficulties in the supply of raw materials by some major Italian brands.

The most optimistic forecasts give 2023 as the breathing space for what seems to be a real thorn in the side of our companies.

To aggravate the situation there is a real media attack on the many companies that until now declared an Italian origin of raw materials or in any case omitted, for some products, the use of the same from other countries.

Most affected are the brands that use mainly wheat, sunflower oil, maize and sugar from these two conflicting countries. A situation that not only involves those who are directly linked to raw materials only for processing into products, but also Italian farmers who use Ukrainian maize to feed their animals.

Those who have not suffered damage and are benefiting from this situation are producers and brands with a truly 100% Italian food chain. However, there are still few brands that are able to demonstrate to consumers the truthfulness of supply chain information. Consumers are increasingly confused and are forging new ties with brands that are willing to be transparent about their business processes.

At this historic moment, we decided to give a sign of closeness to Italian companies and producers by giving them the opportunity to try Trusty for free. Our platform acts as a backbone for the exchange of information along the agri-food supply chains, it can be of great help both for the management of events related to food traceability, and to be more transparent towards customers by simply scanning the qr-code applied on the product packaging.

All traceability events generated are noted on a public blockchain, which means that the information will be accessible to anyone and no one will be able to change it. We believe that a tool like Trusty can really help companies in the Italian agri-food sector and balance the relationship of trust between producers, brands and consumers.
